A little help getting started.

Bring your guitar, pick a few minutes, and find out which notes need practice.

Before you play

Is Frett free? Do I need an account?

Frett is free to use. You can practice without signing up, and your progress stays in this browser. Create a free account to sync your practice history across devices.

What do I need?

For microphone practice, use a guitar in standard tuning and a device with a microphone. Tune up, find a quiet spot, and allow microphone access when Frett asks. Play one note at a time and let the other strings stay quiet.

You can also choose Click mode in practice setup to find notes on the screen without a guitar or microphone.

Can I practice on my phone?

Yes. Open Frett in your phone's browser and go to Practice. The setup screen walks you through adding Frett to your home screen. Open it from that icon and turn your phone sideways to play.

If you opened Frett inside a social app, open the link in your regular browser first.

Does Frett record my guitar?

No. Frett checks pitch on your device. Your microphone audio is not recorded, stored, or uploaded. Read the privacy policy.

When something gets in the way

The microphone isn't working.

Check that Frett has microphone access in your browser's site settings and your device's privacy settings, then reload the page. Close other apps that are using the microphone and check your input device.

You can keep practicing in Click mode while you sort out the microphone.

I'm playing the note, but Frett hears something else.

Check your tuning, move closer to the microphone, and mute the other strings. Frett checks the pitch it hears; it cannot tell which physical string or fret you used.

If pitch readings still seem shifted in Safari, try the same session on a computer in another browser, or use Click mode.

How do I get back into my account?

if you signed up with email and a password. If you used Google, choose Google on the sign-in screen.

Missing the email that confirms your address? Request a new verification link. Check your spam folder and use the newest email.

Where is my progress?

Open Stats to see your practice history. Without an account, it stays in the browser where you practiced. Clearing site data can remove that history.

For progress across devices, sign in to the same account on each device. Your account menu shows whether your progress has synced and offers a retry if it failed.
